A few years ago when the drone concept firstly emerged, the new entrants have attracted a large amount of capital. But as the drone fervor gradually cools down, especially in recent two years, the investors become more and more conservative towards the drone startups.
“I’m not dampening down the drone industry, but the new entrants can barely win the battle now. The benefit-tending and risk-avoiding investors are more willing to invest in the smartphone industry instead of staking their money in the drone industry.” The Table below shows some public enterprises and organizations that have invested in the drone industry over the past two years. Of course, the Table doesn’t cover all the investment information because there are many independent investors or enterprises that refused to reveal their investment information. As a whole, thought there are many enterprises investing in the drone industry in recent two years, they tend to be reserved. Except some organizations such as ZhenFund, most enterprises only invest in one drone company.

From the perspective of investment trend, the drone industry are more attractive to the investors than we expect with new capital constantly entering the drone market. The consumer drone solution companies have hauled in most of the investment, especially the Angel Rounds and First Rounds, indicating that the investors don’t have preference for mature drone companies. Therefore, the new entrants should convince the investors of their potentials through actual strengths.
