Drones are one of the must-have items for serious travellers these days, but sadly they also come with serious instructions and operating procedures to match. But times they are thankfully changing. The Hover Camera from Zero Zero Robotics is more like a hovering photographer that will snap a 13 megapixel photo of you with a click of a button, but it will set you USD 600 (~RM 2358) to press that button.
The size of a pair of hair straighteners, the Hover drone is equipped with a face and body recognition system, allowing it to easily track its user, even as they move. The Hover Camera website explains that the lightweight drone, at just 242 grams, is not subject to certain laws here, as all drones weighing between 250grams and 25kilos must be registered.
The Hover Camera markets itself as an alternative to the selfie stick, with the advantages of a drone. Hovering above you, the Hover captures continually, you don’t have to even pay any attention to it, it will just follow you permanently. In full automatic mode, it selects moments and people to photograph completely independently.
The drone can nonetheless be controlled effectively by the user; you can direct the device from your phone and can grab it out of the air whilst it is in flight (contrary to most other drones) for its carbon fiber makes it particularly light.
It responds to the feeling of regret that we’ve all experienced, when you wish there was a way of preserving a special memory, however the idea of having a drone following you around all the time might not be the most effective solution.
Hover Camera is a new lightweight, autonomous drone with 10-minutes flight time that simply unfolds, takes flight, and follows you around wherever you go.10 minutes is not enough compared to the Mavic Pro‘s 20 minutes, so it would require a great deal of batteries to prepare to be out with the Hover Camera all day while traveling. Anyway, it’s like having a personal travel photographer you just pay $600.
